Instructions
for filling out the ORDER ENTRY, PRE-FIT and
MACHINING INFORMATION FORM
The
following information may be used to assist in completing each area which will
help in processing your order in a timely manner. A new sheet must be filled out
where any variance occurs to doors. If
you need assistance please contact our Sales or Technical support department.
TOP
ROW (from
left to right)
“CUSTOMER
NAME”, “P.O. NO.”, “PAGE NO.”
- Enter your Company name, purchase order number and current page number.
“ACK NO.” - Leave blank.
SECOND
ROW (from left to right)
“NOMINAL
FRAME OPENING SIZE”
- Enter the specified frame size.
Example
– 3/0 X 7/0 or 3’0” X 7’0”.
“HARDWARE
SET”
– Used to indicate specific hardware groups that apply to doors on that page.
“POSITIVE
PRESSURE”
– Check box for type.
“LABEL”
- Enter the fire rating required for the doors on this page. IE: 20 MIN., 45
MIN., 60 MIN. or 90 MIN. If “SMOKE & DRAFT” is required add an “S”
to the end of the rating.
“CORE
TYPE”
– Enter the specific core type IE: “HC”
= Hollow core, “PC” = Partical board, “WC or SLC “ = Stave Lumber core,
“SCLC” = Structural Composite Lumber core,
“MC” = Mineral core, “STC” = Sound Transmission Control core,
“LL” = Lead Lined core.
“VDC
PROD”.
-Leave this space blank unless you know VDC product codes.
“BEVELED
VERTICAL EDGES”
- Check the box that applies. Standard bevel is three degrees or 1/8” in on 2
inches.

“DOOR
PREFIT SIZE”
– Specify the actual door size in correlation to the “Frame size”. A
door must be prefit at both the vertical edges and height to operate freely in
the opening. Example only –
2/11-13/16”
x 6/11-1/4” x 1-3/4” may be specified for a 3/0 x 7/0 frame with 3/16”
pre-fit at width and ¾” at height or
1/8” at head of door and 5/8” at floor. Check code requirements and hardware
application for under cutting criteria.
“FACE
SPECIES”
– Enter required type of “Skin” material. If wood veneer -
specify the type, Grade, Cut and or Match. IE: PS RED OAK “AA” SLIP
MATCH or if “HPL” (Plastic Laminate) specify manufacturer and color
description and number.
“STILE”
-
Specify the stile / vertical edge type. IE: OE =oak edge, HE =hardwood edge
(brown maple), ME=maple
edge, CE =cherry edge, LE =Luan or mahogany edge, PL =plastic laminate edge
(applied after face).
“OPENING
TYPE”
– Check the box that applies. Single Leaf, Active Leaf (pair), Inactive Leaf
(pair) or Double
Egress
(pair). Active leafs and Inactive leafs must be on separate pages unless all of
the information for both Leafs
are identical. IE: sizing, hardware preps etc.
HINGE EDGE PREPARATION
section
“MANUFACTURER”
– Enter the Hinge manufacturer’s name.
“PART
NO.”
- Enter the specific part number for the hinge to be applied.
“SIZE”
– Enter the hinge size required to be mortised (not the full open size). IE:
4-1/2” x 4” would require a 4-1/2”
mortise height.
“GAUGE”
– Enter the thickness or depth of the mortise for specified hinge.
“TEMPLATE
NO.”
– Enter the template or cut sheet number provided by the hinge manufacturer.
“CORNERS”
– Specify if the corners are to be squared or the required radius for the
specified hinge.
“FRAME
MFG.”
– Enter the Frame manufacturer’s name.
“HINGE
LOCATIONS”
– Enter the Hinge locations in the boxes provided as specified from the frame
manufacturer (locations A, B, C & D). NOTE: All locations are from
top of door to top of hinge prep.
“HINGE
BACKSET”
– Enter hinge backset required for the doors and not the frame. Typically
the backset for
the door is 1/16” less than the backset specified for the frame.
LOCK EDGE PREPERATION section -
Location “F“ & “G”
“MANUFACTURER”
– Enter the lock manufacturer’s name for the lock being used.
“PART
NO.”
– Enter the manufacturer’s part number of lock.
“TEMPLATE
NO.”
– Enter the template number or cut sheet provided by the lock manufacturer.
Certain locks may
require more than one template number, such as Exit devices, lock trims etc.
“BACKSET”
– Enter the required backset or distance from the edge of the door to
centerline of specified lock.
“LOCK
LOCATIONS”
– Enter the location of the lock(s) in the boxes provided. Normally provided
by the frame manufacturer.
Make sure that the dimension is entered into the correct box for the
corresponding lock type you
entered in the “F” or “G” location.
NOTE: All lock locations are from top of door to centerline of prep.
“CM
F-B”
(Corner Mounted Flush Bolt) – No location required but you can circle these
abbreviations at top only,
bottom only or both top and bottom.
“EXT
FB”
(Extension Flush Bolt) – Enter the location at the top, bottom or both top and
bottom based on the
length of the extension rods.
NOTE:
There is a section on the right side of this sheet (just above the “mark”
no. section) to specify the flush bolt manufacturer’s name and template number
for both “H” & “I” locations.
VISION CUTOUT and STOP
section.
NOTE
1: All dimensions listed below are “CUTOUT” sizes and not to visible glass!
Actual visible opening sizes will diminish based on the vision frame / stop
being applied.
NOTE
2: Fire rated doors require a minimum distance of 5” from edge vision cutout to
edge any other cutout (light or hardware preps).
“CUTOUT
WIDTH”
– Enter the dimension for the width of cutout.
“CUTOUT
HEIGHT”
– Enter the dimension for the height or length of the cutout.
“CUTOUT
DIMENSION TO LK. EDGE” - Enter the distance / dimension where the cutout begins from
lock
edge of door. If cutout is to be centered in the door enter CNTR or EQ
for equal.
“CUTOUT
OUT DIMENSION TO TOP RAIL”
– Enter the distance / dimension required where cutout is to begin from
the top of the door.
“GLAZING
MATERIAL”
– Check the box that applies to the necessary glazing material.
All
wood stops will match face species unless noted otherwise.
“GLAZING
THICKNESS”
– Enter the glass thickness
(standard is ¼” for stop material)
“BUNDLED
or LOOSE” – It
is highly recommended that glazing be done in the field. VDC can not guarantee
that glass
“GLAZING
TYPE” – Enter
the “Elevation” or “Detail” type. If multiple lights or applied moldings
are required, make sure the detail drawings are included with the order.
“WOOD
or METAL VISION FRAMES STYLE / PART NUMBER”
– Specify the manufactures product
type or part number. Then check the box below to indicate who is to provide.
LOUVER CUTOUT and STYLE
section
NOTE: All dimensions listed below are “CUT OUT” sizes and should be indicated on
the Louver manufacturer’s order
sheet.
“CUTOUT
WIDTH” – Enter
the dimension for the width of the cutout.
“CUTOUT
HEIGHT”
– Enter the dimension for the height or length of the cutout.
“CUTOUT
DIMENSION TO LK. EDGE” - Enter the distance / dimension where the cutout begins from
lock edge of door. If cutout is to be
centered in the door enter CNTR or EQ for equal.

OUT DIMENSION TO BOTTOM RAIL”
– Enter the distance / dimension required where cutout is to
begin from the bottom of the door.
“WOOD
or METAL LOUVER STYLE / PART NO.”
– Specify the manufacturer’s name and product type or part number.
Then check the box below to indicate
who is to provide.
MISC. HARDWARE INFO
(the section just above the quantity and mark number area.)
“FLUSHBOLTS
–LOC. “H” or “I”
– Enter the manufacturer’s name and template number.
“STRIKE
LOC. “F”
– Enter the manufacturer’s name and template number for the strike that will
be used in the lock
edge preparation section location “F”.
“STRIKE
LOC. “G”
– Enter the manufacturer’s name and template number for the strike that will
be used in the
lock
edge preparation section location “G”.
“OVERHEAD
CONCEALED STOP / COLSER”
– Enter the manufacturer’s name, part number, required degree
of opening and template number.
“MORTISE
DOOR BOTTOM”
– Enter the manufacturer’s name, part number, width and depth of cutout.
MARK NUMBER and QUANTITY
– section
“DOOR
MARK NUMBERS”
– List only those door mark numbers that pertain to the information on each
page.
“SWING”
– Indicate the swing that applies to the given mark numbers in this area.
“QTY”
– Enter the total amount of doors listed for each swing for the information
provided on this page.
“TOTAL
QTY OF DOORS THIS PAGE” –
Enter the total sum of doors for each page.
NOTES / REMARKS
section
Provide
any notes or special instructions in this section.
“ADDITIONAL
BLOCKING INFO.”
– Check the appropriate box and fill in the location of lock blocks,
intermediate rails etc.
